Adrian Nartea, the well-known actor from the VLAD series, made shocking revelations about the moment he was diagnosed with an intracranial tumor. In 2018, he had to undergo two surgeries. Invited to a podcast, Adi Nartea narrated the whole experience!

How Adrian Nartea was diagnosed with an intra-cranial tumor

In 2017, Adrian Nartea received a harsh diagnosis from the doctors! The actor from the VLAD series found out that he has a brain tumor. Following a medical consultation, doctors told him that he had developed a tumor behind his left eye.

At the time, the actor complained that he had a blocked ear, but the doctors decided to operate on Adrian Nartea, to correct the deviated septum. But he couldn’t get rid of the symptoms that were bothering him, so he decided to get an MRI at his mother’s urging. That’s how he found out about the tumor. Invited to the podcast moderated by Liana Stanciu, Adrian Nartea talked about these difficult moments in his life.

“My left ear was blocked and I didn’t know why”

“My left ear was literally blocked and I didn’t know why. I was doing aerosols and the ENT said I had a blocked ear because I had a deviated septum. There were still some symptoms, when I went to the dentist and sat with my mouth open for a long time, when I closed it, I tingled very badly underneath, on the left side, inside”. he declared in Măruță’s show.

“It’s called a trigeminal schwannoma. It is a tumor that grows on the nerve sheath, like a mole, but on the inside. There are many people who have these kinds of tumors that grow and stop. Some don’t stop growing. This happened to me. It was a slow growth. The doctors told me it was a matter of 6, 7, 8 months before something neurological would happen to me, I would actually fall on the street,” said the actor.

The actor underwent two surgeries in France

After learning the harsh diagnosis, he chose to have the operation in France. He underwent two surgeries in Lyon: “There were difficult times. I have also had more mystical experiences. But the most important thing is that my wife, Alina, and Mara, who was 2 years old at the time, came to me, and the moment I saw her…it filled me with everything. The little one was looking at me and she had no business. I had a head the size of a penny. We continued to play, he understood. It wasn’t until about a week later that he looked at me and asked if I was in pain. That was a moment…and now if I think about it, I start to cry”.

“After a few days, my mother also sent me an email telling me that they found a formation that is intracranial, not to worry, to stay calm. I couldn’t believe it. Why didn’t he call me, why did he send me an email? He probably wanted to avoid the conversation. I understood that I have a tumor in my head, behind my eye. (…) I started calling and going to neurologists, neurosurgeons, I consulted about four. A journey began for me to figure out what to do. The tumor was big, 4 cm long, 3 cm wide, about 1 or 2 cm thick, big, very big. The first operation lasted about 6 or 7 hours. After that I stayed in the hospital for 7 days. (…) They didn’t manage to remove the entire tumor, because it was very solid in places”, Adrian Nartea explained at the time.
