Catherine, 58, owned five luxury villas on the popular holiday island of Phuket. The wealthy businesswoman had been living alone in Thailand since her divorce four years ago.

She always had by her side Nutwalai Phupongta, a maid she had hired 17 years ago.

According to the Bangkok press, Catherine was suffering from an incurable disease. And on Monday, April 29, her body was found on the edge of the pool of the villa where she lived, along with a glass of vodka, a pack of cigarettes and a gun with a cartridge missing.

An employee found her body and called the police, who assumed the French woman had committed suicide. Nothing indicates a possible murder. The surveillance cameras had been covered by Catherine, the inquest found.

Shortly before her death, the woman made her will on April 26 and informed several people close to her that she would leave all her wealth to her maid, Nutwalai Phupongta.

Known as “Aunt Tim”, the Thai woman has now inherited two villas, money, cars, diamond rings and jewelery and two plots of land, worth 100 million baht, equivalent to around 2.5 million euros.

“I didn’t even have a driver’s license,” said “Aunt Tim,” who was ordered by will to “take care of the three cats that Catherine adored.”

She explained that the deceased also transferred the employees’ salaries, paid the last internet, water, energy and gas bills, including 500,000 baht, about 13,000 euros, for funeral expenses. She promised to organize the funeral event “to the best of her ability”.
