A woman from Portland, USA, became a millionaire after finding an old lottery ticket, lost in a box of change.
Leslie Carr, 52, found the ticket a few days ago and initially wanted to throw it away, but news had just come out that someone had won over a billion dollars on Powerball, so she thought she might as well luck and decided at the last minute to check it out. Therefore, he went to an agency and found out that he won 1 million dollars. She claimed her prize on April 22, the Oregon Lottery confirmed in a press release, according to People.
“I had no idea I won”Leslie said. “If it wasn’t the billion dollar Powerball winner we heard about on the news we don’t check the ticket”she added.
The winning ticket had been drawn on March 15, more than a month before the woman realized she had it.
When he went to the agency he had a surprise. “I heard the employee say, Oooooo, I can’t give you the money because your prize is more than $1,000. That was when I started to get excited”the woman said.
He later found out he had won $1 million.
The woman plans to pay off her mortgage, buy a new car, and book a vacation to Hawaii.
According to the Oregon Lottery website, players in Leslie’s drawing have a 1 in 250,000 chance of winning $1 million.
