Customs officers in Argentina made a gruesome discovery while checking a package sent from San Telmo to New York, USA. They found during a routine check the mummified head of a child, hidden in a Spider-Man mask.
According to Argentine media, the package was destined for New York and the contents were passed off as a toy. But the scanner revealed that there were human bones inside.
The sender of the box used a false identity, and the recipient’s name coincides with that of an American star known for participating in reality shows, according to Canal26.
The remains are believed to be of a boy between the ages of 9 and 12. Authorities in Argentina are now verifying whether the woman asked for the package to be sent or whether it was sent without her knowledge.
It is not the only case of this type in recent months. In October, customs personnel in Clorinda found four human skulls in a suitcase. The owner of the suitcase said the skulls were to be sent to the United States for scientific study.
The investigators’ hypotheses are multiple: the skulls could be used in religious rituals, or end up in macabre collections.
