In the Bright Week, Wednesdays and Fridays are “map” days. The Church offers us indulgence in sweets thanks to the Resurrection of the Lord. According to the Typic of St. Sava, on Wednesdays and Fridays, in the period between the Resurrection of the Lord and All Saints’ Sunday (the first after Pentecost), we have “dissolution of the fish”.
From the Resurrection of the Lord until Pentecost, there are no matans, only worships. Starting from Holy Easter Sunday and until the Ascension of the Lord, the Easter Axion was sung at the Liturgy: “The angel cried…”, and the faithful greeted each other with the words: “Christ is risen!” and I answer: “Truly he is risen!”
Priests recommend that unnecessary household chores should not be done on the days of the great holidays.
The second and third days of Easter are important days in the Christian-Orthodox calendar, marked with a red cross, being integrated under the celebration of Holy Easter.
Folk tradition says that those who do not observe Easter holidays, including the Mondays and Tuesdays after the Resurrection of the Lord, and do household chores may experience bad luck or trouble.
