A 21-year-old woman went into anaphylactic shock after taking a mouthful of a coffee full of insects, which she bought from an airport vending machine on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

The young woman ended up in intensive care after drinking a cup of coffee full of insects. The girl spent 36 hours at ATI, where she struggled between life and death. The young woman’s family filed a complaint against the airport where the girl got her coffee.
The 21-year-old, who works for an airline, bought a coffee from a vending machine at Son Sant Joan airport, located near Palma de Mallorca. The moment the woman started to drink the coffee, she noticed that it had a strange taste, and when she looked more closely in the glass she saw a swarm of insects crawling inside, according to the Daily Mail.
After one sip, the woman began to feel sick. The young woman went into anaphylactic shock, her face began to swell and her throat began to close, causing her to struggle to breathe.

The woman was rushed to hospital, where she reportedly spent 36 hours in intensive care before being discharged.

The incident, which took place on April 22, also left the woman with severe swelling.
Medical services at the airport gave her adrenaline and other drugs before she was rushed to a clinic in Palma.

Her family has now filed a complaint against the airport with the National Police, according to Spanish website Ultima Hora. They claim that the presence of insects in the coffee cup is a possible offense against public health and negligent injury, the news site added.
The family added that the machine, which has now been shut down, was clearly poorly maintained by airport staff.
