We’ll see what the experts say. We have to take into account that salt has been mined in Slănic for 2000 years, and we only know what happened in the last 200 years.

Regarding the water in Baia Baciului, the water has decreased over time, and we are monitoring the phenomenon“, declared the mayor Costea Daneluș, according to Prahova Info. Also, the Prefect of Prahova County, Emil Drăgănescu, sent several ISU Prahova crews to the scene.

Norica Hâncu, a resident of the area, explained how for several years the walls started to crack and strange sounds are always heard when the ground starts to move. “The walls have cracked and all my work is at risk of being swallowed by the ground at any moment. We are standing right above the salt flat. Below us are the galleries. I am desperate.
I have been living here for 12 years, the house is made of brick, built in 1974. I was not given something like this to live”, said the woman. The woman’s cousin testified that she was afraid to live in the area and fled from there. However, not all people have a place to move and cannot afford to make this radical change in their lives.

The mayor then explained that “salt’s worst enemy” it’s fresh water, because it erodes the deposit. “There is a risk of putting the lock on me, which would be a disaster for the town. Until the specialists come, we don’t know anything for sure”, declared the mayor then.
