Several members of the film crew were injured and two were hospitalized after a car and a truck collided while filming Eddie Murphy’s “The Pickup” in Atlanta, Georgia.

Amazon MGM Studios stated in a statement that the scene that led to Saturday’s accident in Georgia was rehearsed and that all safety measures were taken. Neither Murphy nor the film’s other stars, including Keke Palmer and Pete Davidson, were on set at the time.

The scene was filmed by a second unit within the production, which generally films less central scenes that do not involve the director or the main actors. The studio’s statement reads: “This is not a filming scene: “Unfortunately, the sequence did not go as planned and several crew members were injured as a result. We are still gathering data on what happened and why, but first and foremost our thoughts are with those recovering.

The studio did not provide details about the injured nor about the roles of the crew members who were injured.

“The Pickup” is directed by Tim Story, who also directed “Barbershop” from 2002 and “Fantastic Four” from 2005. Filming began in and around Atlanta in February. It doesn’t have a release date yet, but production is not expected to be delayed by the accident.
