The town halls from the localities of Ilfov competed for Easter in electoral expenses. The city of Voluntari spent the most, where mayor Florentin Pandele offered boxes of sweets for 5,500 students with a message from him, as well as food for 15,000 families.

In total, five town halls from Ilfov county spent over 240,000 euros on the occasion of the Easter holidays. In first place was the city of Voluntari, with expenses of 160,000 euros, followed by the City Hall of Afumați (40,000 euros), Chitila (15,800 euros), Dobroești (11,000 euros) and Pantelimon (10,000 euros).

An investigation carried out by Buletin de Bucharest shows that the Voluntary Education Directorate spent over 30,000 euros on gifts for students and postcards.

The following message can be read on the packages of sweets distributed to the students, accompanied by the official logo of the Voluntary Town Hall:

“May the light of the Lord’s resurrection guide your way in life and bring you tranquility and peace in your soul. Happy holidays with your loved ones”, signed: “Mayor, Pandele Florentin-Costel”.

The rest of 130,000 euros was spent by the Voluntary Education Directorate on packages of wheat flour, corn flour, sugar and cake for 15,000 families, but it was not clarified whether they were distributed according to social criteria.

At Afumați, the 41,000 euros went on 4,500 packages of sweets for students.

The City Hall of Chitila offered in nurseries, kindergartens and schools “on each child’s bench a sweet and colorful surprise to make them happy at the beginning of the holiday”, spending a total of 15,800 euros.

In Dobroești, 1,311 packages of sweets were offered, and in Pantelimon, the 10,000 euros were spent on decorations and “Easter arrangements”.
