“Beverly Hills 90210” star Shannen Doherty has stage 4 cancer and says she’s started giving up material possessions so she can focus on what really matters at this stage.

In the latest episode of her podcast, “Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty,” the actress said she’s started selling off all of her stash, according to Business Insider.

“For me, cancer made me take stock of my life and change my priorities, and my priority right now is my mother”Doherty said, noting that she knows how hard it would be for her mother if she died first.

Although she had high hopes for medical treatments to “prolong” her life, the actress says she feels she needs to get everything in order, “just in case.”

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, but went into remission in 2017. But in 2020, she announced that the disease had returned and that she has stage 4 cancer, meaning it has spread throughout her body.

“I don’t want her to have a bunch of stuff to deal with”Doherty said, referring to her mother. “I don’t want her to have four storage units full of furniture because I had an obsession with furniture.”

The actress said she collected “a lot of crap” because of her passion for vintage furniture and all the items ended up in storage.

Doherty added that she hopes to sell all the things she doesn’t need to have money to make trips and memories for her loved ones.

“I’m going to take my mom on vacation because I’ll have all this extra money and I’m not touching the money in savings that will be left for my loved ones after I’m gone”she said.

The 52-year-old actress said she needed time to come to terms with the idea of giving up her belongings and various properties she owned.

“It’s hard to let go of something that was very special and important to you. But you know it’s the right thing to do, and you can have a sense of peace because you’re helping those you leave behind get through what’s going to happen.”.

In the US, approximately 240,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
