A 45-year-old man died on Monday after a bank of earth collapsed on him. The incident happened in the town of Cotnari in Iesa, while the man was carrying out sewage works. In the case, two parallel investigations were opened. One is started by the Police, and another by ITM.
A team of firefighters arrived at the scene. The victim was extracted from under the earth bank in a state of unconsciousness, being later taken over by the doctors.
Despite the resuscitation maneuvers performed, in the end the man was declared dead.
“The patient was found under an embankment in cardiorespiratory arrest. Upon the arrival of the medical crews, resuscitation maneuvers were performed by the people on the spot, who partially extracted him from under the embankment. He was later fully extracted by the firemen and taken over by the crew with a doctor from the ambulance. Resuscitation maneuvers continued, without response. Death was declared,” said doctor Diana Cimpoeşu, coordinator of UPU-SMURD Iaşi.
Both the Police and the Territorial Labor Inspectorate have started investigations, as it is a work accident, according to realitatea.net
