A military drone would have crashed on a field just 12 km away from Brăila, accompanied by a loud bang. The police and gendarmerie cordoned off the area.
Update 08:30 According to Antena 3 CNN sources, the downed drone is of Russian origin and would have been sent to the Ukrainian ports on the Danube. Most likely, the GPS guidance system has failed.
The authorities have not yet communicated anything officially. Military helicopters fly over the area.
This is approximately the fifth or sixth drone incident at the Romanian border.
Initial news There were moments of panic last night for dozens of people in a commune near Brăila, after a military drone crashed in a field near their homes.
The drone fell in the Insula Mari area of Brăila, 12 kilometers away from the ferry crossing.
The images were captured by locals and posted on the internet. It all happened shortly after midnight. People got scared out of their houses when they heard the loud bang and urgently called 112.
Soon the area was surrounded by police and investigators who cordoned off the entire perimeter.
No one was injured, from the data available at this time.
As with the previous incidents, the information provided by the officials is very brief, there is a real secrecy.
