The Minister of Labour, Simona Bucura Oprescu, made the long-awaited announcement regarding the transfer of pensions before Easter for all pensioners who chose to receive their income in the electronic system. The decision to grant pensions before the Easter holidays was taken during a Government meeting and comes as a result of promises made publicly by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.

“The good news comes from the Ciolacu Government, at its request, the ministry has mobilized in such a way that the pensions arrive before Easter. We approved the advance of the payments we make to the Romanian Post and the 22 banking institutions so that the pensions arrive before the Easter holidays”, said the official from Muncă to Romania TV.

According to the minister’s statements, the process of delivering the pensions was started quickly, so that the pensioners benefit from their due income before the Easter holidays. The first installment of 50% of the amounts intended for pensioners was transferred on Thursday and the remaining 50% was transferred on Friday. On Monday, the payment orders will leave, but so will the money, so the banks will be able to transfer the money.

Simona Bucura Oprescu emphasized the collaboration efforts between the Ministry of Labour, the Romanian Post Office and the 22 banking institutions involved in the pension transfer process. The general mobilization allowed all payments to be timed so that pensioners received their income before the Easter holidays.

Regarding the delivery of pensions, both the Romanian Post Office and the banks have given assurances that they will do everything possible for the money to reach its destination in a timely manner. Simona Bucura Oprescu thanked all those involved in this process, including postmen, for their efforts in ensuring that pensioners will receive their due income before the Easter holidays.

“It was a general mobilization and I personally talked to every minister involved. The assurances received from the Romanian Post are that the money will reach the pensioners, and we thank all the postmen for their efforts,” the minister said.

We remind you that in the Government meeting on Thursday, April 25, it was decided that all Romanian pensions will be transferred earlier, so that by the end of next week all pensioners in Romania will receive their money, through postal factors or bank accounts, until at Easter.

The general director of CN Poșta Română, Valentin Ștefan, declared that the institution has the logistical capacity to distribute pensions before Easter. A number of 14,000 employees of the Romanian Post, including 10,000 postmen, are prepared to ensure the distribution of pensions, regardless of the term of receiving the money in the accounts.

For the advance payment of pensions related to the month of May 2024, by postal order, the amount of 1,961,165 thousand lei from the state social insurance budget, respectively 339,359 thousand lei from the state budget, is transferred to the National Company “Romanian Post”, and to the banks commercial the amount of 6,346,977 thousand lei from the state social insurance budget, respectively 683,898 thousand lei from the state budget.
