Hundreds of kilograms of counterfeit gold jewelry circulate on the Romanian market. Many are so well made that only a specialist can tell the difference.

In order not to be fooled, specialists advise us to check the markings on the jewel, but also the data in the certificate.

Mihai Bucătaru, jeweler: We have to pay attention to the 3 dies, they are firstly marked with the title mark showing us the carat of the gold, being 14, 18 represented by 750, 585, then the mark from ANPC, it being noted for gold in a rectangular border, then it is also the mark of responsibility

For our safety when purchasing a precious accessory, we should ensure that we receive an original quality certificate, tax receipt, invoice and warranty. There are also more convenient methods to verify jewelry.

Mihai Bucătaru, jeweller: It could be that gold is not a metal that reacts to a magnet. When we use a magnet near the jewel and it is attracted, then we can say that we mostly know that it does not contain gold, we can also identify the color by immersing the jewel in a vinegar bath. If the color changes, we can realize that the gold color is not the real one, but these summers should be avoided
