There are only two days left until the May 1st mini-holiday and Easter. This year, Labor Day and the celebration of the Resurrection bring Romanians a six-day mini-vacation. These days, Siberians have more options to spend their free time. Hiking through the county, parties, horse-drawn carriage rides, and thematic fairs are just some of the events we can enjoy during the six free days we have.
We have prepared below a list of the main events that Sibiu can attend during their mini-vacation.
Easter Fair in Sibiu 2024
Piața Mare in Sibiu hosts the 2024 Easter Fair, an event that continues to be a meeting point for the community and a place where traditions and creativity meet in a festive atmosphere. Between April 26 and May 7, the fair opens to visitors, offering a variety of experiences and products, from handicrafts to culinary delicacies.a
Walking with the moped
The “Friends of Mocăniței” association invites the people of Sibiu to a scenic ride with the steam locomotive, between May 1-4.

Lake Festival on May 1, at Binder’s Lake
From May 1st, at Binder’s Lake, we are invited to the Lake Festival.
“A whole day dedicated to music and outdoor fun! Join us at Festival Lake on May 1st next to Binder Lake! A whole day dedicated to music and outdoor fun! Whether you like to dance to electronic beats or relax in the great outdoors, we’ve got you covered. In addition, if you like sports, you can participate in beach volleyball matches. Via Transilvanica of May 1 – Three days on Terra Dacia
The Apuseni Mountain Club invites us to continue our pilgrimage on the Via Transilvanica – The Road that unites, with a new segment
“Besides special landscapes, you will discover mountain villages with people who lead their lives in a different way than us, the townspeople! We cover the southern part of the Terra Dacica segment, a 57 km long route, divided into 3 days. The route runs from Ohaba Ponor, at the foot of the Retezat, reaches Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa and ends in the Iron Gates Pass of Transylvania. Come with us to cover an easy route, starting in May, in a low area that does not present any danger. The hike takes place on hills with altitudes between 400 and 800m. We will sleep two nights at guesthouses in the Hațeg Depression area, in the town of Mălăiesti”, show the organizers.

Thematic paths in Rău Sadului
From May 1st, three themed trails will be launched that make Rău Sadului a more attractive place to spend time moving outdoors. With local tastes and stories of transhumance, local architecture and biodiversity.
“We offer picnic hikes on:
HAY PATH in Grui and Prejbei Valley / 2 hours;
CHEESE PATH in Beberani /3 hours;
THE HUT PATH in Secaturi/5 hours;
Guided hikes take place between 10:00 and 17:00, with the last arrival in the village in the evening at 20:00. Between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., an information and visitor center will also operate in Ciupari at the starting point on the routes marked with a yellow dot and a red dot,” the organizers of the event say.

On Wednesday, May 1, from 5 p.m., we are invited to enjoy the atmosphere of Easter together at a cooking workshop. The workshop is aimed at children aged between 5 and 10 years.

Circuit with cheeses and leurde pesto
On Thursday, May 2, we enjoy spring through a circuit hike, which starts from Mediaș, reaches Bazna (on Via Transilvanica) and then back to Mediaș, but following a different path. Halfway we visit the fortified church of Bazna and stop for a cheese tasting and a soup at the Bassen Pension.

On May 5 and 6, 2024, we are invited to Portal Village with lavish meals and customs old and new, which are in perfect harmony with this magical place.

Hiking circuit Biertan – Ațel – Dupuș – Biertan
On Friday, May 3, we are invited to a hike in the Transylvanian Hills with many stops and visits to fortified churches.
“If we were to summarize the day briefly, it would be like this: wow landscape, 3 fortified churches, about 20 km.
We meet in Mediaș, from where we take the minibus to Biertan. We visit the fortified church, then we go to Dupuș. After about 5 km, we arrive, visit the church, and then start towards Ațel. We also visit the church in Ațel, to then return through the forest to Biertan. And from Biertan, with our minibus in Mediaș. As we are used to you, we will have a picnic together in a place with a belvedere, with sandwiches brought in our backpacks”, show the organizers of the event.

Fairs of local producers and farmers Șura Mare
