Urgent police appeal as schoolboy, 14, goes missing from home

Police have issued an urgent appeal for the public’s help to trace a missing schoolboy.

Simon Towart has not been seen since leaving his home in Carlisle at around 3pm on Wednesday (March 27). Cumbria Police say the 14-year-old may still be in the Carlisle area, however also has links to Whitehaven, Preston and Newcastle.

He is described as being around 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build, with mousey hair recently cut short. Simon was last seen wearing a Jack Jones puffa jacket that is half black and half blue, black and gray tracksuit bottoms, black trainers and carrying a black bag with a Scream logo on it.

Police have shared a picture of the teenager as part of an appeal for help to track him down. They said anyone who sees Simon or who has knowledge of his whereabouts is urged to contact the police.

In a statement issued this morning, a force spokesperson said: “Have you seen missing 14-year-old Simon Towart of Carlisle? Simon has not been seen since leaving his home address at around 3pm yesterday (27 March).

“He may still be in the Carlisle area but also has links to Whitehaven, Newcastle and Preston. Simon is around 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build, with mousey hair recently cut short.

“He was last seen wearing a Jack Jones puffa jacket that is half black and half blue, black and gray tracksuit bottoms black trainers and carrying a black bag with a Scream logo on it. Anyone who sees Simon or who has knowledge of his whereabouts is urged to contact the police.
