Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu declared on Thursday, March 28, that the Government promised the Romanians that we would maintain the ceiling on energy and gas prices until the spring of 2025, and today, in the meeting, the ceilings are being changed in favor of consumers.

The Head of the Executive also announced the extension of RCA tariffs by another 3 months, until June 30.

“We promised the Romanians that we would maintain the ceiling on energy and gas prices until the spring of 2025. Today, we are taking an extra step and modifying the ceilings in favor of consumers. It is normal to take into account the trend of reducing energy and gas prices at the European level”, said the Prime Minister in the Government meeting.

Marcel Ciolacu specified that “the population and the economy continue to be protected”.

In addition, said Ciolacu, it is ensured that the return to the free market is done in stages, until 2026, with fair prices for Romanians.

The Prime Minister announced that on Thursday the Government is extending the capping of RCA tariffs by another three months, until June 30.

“We want to combat any risk of excessive price increases due to imbalances previously produced on this market. And let’s give a helping hand to the Romanians, as ASF did recently and seriously reduced the RCA insurance in the case of transporters”, said Ciolacu.

“During the period April 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025, the supply component is 73 lei/MWh for the electricity supply activity, respectively 15 lei/MWh for the natural gas supply activity.

In the period April 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025, the supply component of the prices applied to customers taken over in the last instance regime is 80 lei/MWh for the activity of supplying electricity, respectively 15 lei/MWh for the activity of supplying natural gas” , it is stated in the Emergency Ordinance from the Government meeting.
