We are changing the price ceilings for energy and gas in favor of consumers, says Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, at the beginning of the Government meeting. The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, announces the elimination of the solar tax for prosumers.

“We promised the Romanians that we would maintain the ceiling on energy and gas prices until the spring of 2025. Today, we are taking an extra step and modifying the ceilings in favor of consumers! It is normal to take into account the trend of reducing energy and gas prices at the European level. The population and the economy are still protected! And we also ensure that the return to the free market is done in stages, until 2026, with fair prices for Romanians”, says Marcel Ciolacu.

The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, made clarifications.

“The current compensation/ceiling scheme has provided Romanians with the fourth cheapest gas and the EU and the fifth cheapest electricity. With today’s proposal, we optimize this scheme and take into account market downturns. In fact, Romania has the lowest electricity price in the region. It is also a preparation for the post-2025 stage, where we ensure that suppliers make fair offers to end consumers. In addition, as I promised, I proposed the repeal of the possibility of imposing that tax on the sun, the article that from 2026 would have given ANRE the possibility to impose a tax on prosumers. Today there are over 120,000 prosumers in Romania, with an installed power of over 1500 MW”, according to Burduja.
