President Klaus Iohannis promulgated a series of legislative amendments that provide for the installation of speed limiters at the entrance to the town, so that drivers are determined to take their foot off the accelerator and keep the maximum allowed traffic limit for the respective road segment. Titi Aur, specialist in defensive driving, spoke on the show “De Ce Conducem” about the usefulness of this measure.
“Is it a good change to have those speed limiters, those bumps?”, stated the journalist Florin Răvdan, referring to the limiters installed at the entrance to the towns.
“It is a forced but necessary change in Romania. The professional Romanian driver and the truck driver do not perceive that sign on which the name of the town and the speed limit are written. I think so, otherwise I don’t understand why no one gives a discount when entering the town, especially when there are police.
It is very serious and very bad that the Romanian driver does not understand, does not perceive and does not feel how dangerous it is not to reduce the speed, and then cries that the child jumped in front of him and he did everything he could to avoid it.
This law, from my point of view, is welcome, taking into account the actual situation on the ground, and I believe that this, if it will be implemented, will indeed lead to an education and conduct closer to normality.
I felt comments like: What’s the use of those islands, if I have to go very slowly! Those chicanes were made on purpose so that you, the driver, would be forced to stop. He was forced physically if he could not be forced theoretically, by law, to slow down when entering the locality,” said Titi Aur.
