The Minister of Agriculture says that he is preparing a law by which the addition to all Romanian agri-food products will be capped. Florin Barbu claims that they have a very large addition, compared to the imported ones.

The Minister states that the measure by which the Government capped additions to certain basic products has yielded results, and prices are now lower.

“I am already working on a law that we will submit to the Romanian Parliament regarding the capping of all Romanian agri-food products. Why? It is an unfair commercial practice that products made by Romanian producers and processors have a very high commercial margin on the shelf, and imported products have a smaller commercial margin. And of course, the consumption is higher for the products that come from imports and practically puts our farmers and processors at a disadvantage”, he said the Minister of Agriculture in the Insider Politic show on Prima TV.

Appearing on the Insider Politic show on Prima TV produced by Sebastian Zachmann, Minister Barbu could not estimate how much a kilogram of lamb will cost this year. He claims, however, that the price will not increase much compared to last year.

“I cannot give an estimated price because I want it to be a fair market for the sale of lamb meat during the Easter holidays. I’m sure and from the discussions I have with the farmers, they have told me very clearly that they will have a decent price so that they can cover their expenses and of course make a little profit because everyone is working for this thing. But, first of all, to be able to cover their expenses and the costs they had with the animal husbandry part in the sheep sector”, said Minister Florin Barbu.
