Today, May 7, Apple will hold a launch event called “Let Loose.” The company has promised that this will not be an “ordinary” event, but the only concrete information about this event is suggested by the presentation image, which includes an Apple Pencil stylus, suggesting that it is a launch of tablets in the iPad range. Here’s how you can watch the launch and what surprises we can expect.

When Apple’s Let Loose is released

The launch of Let Loose will be streamed live on Apple’s YouTube channel and can be watched using the player attached to this article. The event starts three hours earlier than usual. If Apple used to hold events at 10am PT (ie 20:00 Romanian time), the new release will be streamed starting at 7 am PT, i.e. 5:00 pm Romanian time.

iPad Pro with OLED screen and M4 processor, the “star” of the event?

At least four new tablets from the iPad Pro and iPad Air series are expected. The Pro models would be the first in the range to make the switch to OLED screens, which could also come with a significant price increase. Along with these, a new “Magic Keyboard” could also debut, with a larger trackpad and aluminum construction, bringing the tablets closer to the MacBook range of laptops. The tablets themselves could in turn be built from new materials, such as a glass back to be able to integrate magnetic charging via MagSafe.

In fact, the new iPad Pros could be more powerful than the latest MacBooks. There are rumors suggesting that they will use Apple Silicon M4 processors, with much more powerful AI processor. Basically, the iPad Pro skips a generation of M processors, with the latest variant shipping a year and a half ago with the M2 processor. Along with these tablets, it could also be launched https://twitter.com/ribu_ap712/status/1787461116211479032a new stylus model for the iPad, which could receive a pressure sensor for squeeze gestures, haptic feedback, but also compatibility with Apple Vision Pro.

The iPad Air will get a bigger model

However, iPad Air tablets will receive an incremental upgrade. First, the 10.9″ model will get a bigger “brother” with a 12.9″ screen, just like the Pro models. Then these tablets will make the switch from the M1 to the M2 processor. Of course, being about the Air series, they will be delivered in multiple color variants.

Given that we’re a month away from WWDC, Apple probably won’t talk much about the AI and software for these tablets, as they’ll still ship with iPadOS 17. However, we might get to see what these tablets can do new tablets and M4 processors at next month’s conference, where iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and the rest of Apple’s operating systems will be unveiled, all of which will integrate new features with generative AI.
