The president of Rapid, Daniel Niculae, is being prosecuted in the case of torches and firecrackers at the stadium

The president of the Rapid club, Daniel Niculae, was indicted by the prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court, being accused of having paid and helped the leader of the Rapid gallery, Liviu Ungurean, called “Bocciu”, to purchase and illegally introduce pyrotechnic materials in the stadiums during the football matches, reports Agerpres.

In a press release sent on Friday, the Prosecutor’s Office announces that it has expanded the criminal action against two defendants, namely Liviu Ungurean and Daniel Niculae, under the aspect of committing the crime of any operations with pyrotechnic articles and complicity in this crime.

“Bocciu” is accused that, on March 14, 2024, he unlawfully possessed several pyrotechnic materials in his home, as follows: 34 boxes marked “Triplex Stroboskop 90 Sek”, cat. F2, of 3 pcs. strobe-type pyrotechnic items each – total 102 pcs.; 1 pc. pyrotechnic article in the form of a cylinder, inscribed “Enigma Fireworks” – CACTUS RAIN; 31 pcs. pyrotechnic articles in the form of a cylinder, uninscribed, on the outside being made of brown cardboard; 14 boxes of 10 pcs. pyrotechnic articles each type luminous firecrackers inscribed “Pyro Boom 2 – Flash Banger – luminous firecracker”, cat. F4 – total 140 pcs.; 23 pcs. pyrotechnic articles in the form of a cylinder, green, inscribed “Pirotecnica Manna” KL F2/NR REJ 2806-F2-001191; 6 pcs. torch-type pyrotechnic articles, white in color, with red and green caps on the sides, “FDF” written on the caps; 14 pcs. torch-type pyrotechnic articles, cylindrical shape, inscribed “Pirotecnica Manna – Torcia Manna”, KL T1 NEC.

Daniel Niculae is accused of having, on January 27, 2024, materially and morally supported the leader of the group (and the persons he controlled in this capacity, including the unidentified perpetrators who used the pyrotechnic materials in the context of organizing a football match), the material support offered in his capacity as president of a football club consisting of offering sums of money for the purchase of pyrotechnic materials, also agreeing that unidentified persons use pyrotechnic materials, without right, in the stadium premises on January 27, 2024, transmitting this agreement to the leader of the group, thus providing moral support.

Also, Daniel Nicuale agreed for supporters to use pyrotechnic materials at the start of a football match played on March 9, 2024, conveying his agreement to the leader of the group in this regard, after the latter requested it for the members of the gallery to act without affecting the relationship he has with the football club he supports, thus facilitating the criminal activity consisting in the possession, transportation and use of pyrotechnic materials, without the right, at the beginning of the football match.

On April 24, the prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court, together with judicial police workers from the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest – Violent Criminal Groups Service, executed a home search warrant in the premises of the Rapid stadium, occasion with which a room was identified in its premises to which the leader of the group had exclusive access, the keys to open it being made available to the criminal investigation bodies by a relative of his. The room was used to store drums, flags and other materials used by the gallery.

In the case, the prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court ordered the seizure of 16 defendants.
