A new historical minimum of electricity consumption in Romania!

This was recorded on the first day of Easter. National consumption was below 3,000 MWh. During these mini-vacation days, photovoltaic panels were the first source of energy in our country.

“At Easter we had under 2900 MWh, instantaneous consumption in the middle of the day at 3 p.m. According to our data, it is a record for at least the last 30 years. At that time, we should add somewhere around 500-600 MWh to have the real consumption of the country. Even so, this consumption would be 25-30% less than it would have been on such a day 5-6 years ago.” Mihai Nicut, chief editor of Economica.net, said to EuropaFm.

The sharp decline in consumption does not come only with good news. The country’s industry shows no signs of recovery.

“On Easter, at that time of low consumption, most of the production was provided by the large panels, not by the prosumers. So there is this good news that noxes are emitted into the atmosphere and most of what is produced is produced from renewable sources. But, there is this problem, in which Romania is starting to sink: there is no industrial consumption of electricity. Or there is, but it is not growing. So the industry has not restarted and it seems that the phenomenon of electromobility has not taken such a large scale either, i.e. electric cars” says Mihai Nicut.
