Dozens of protesters demanded that Putin be brought to The Hague for war crimes in Ukraine

Dozens of demonstrators gathered in front of the Peace Palace in The Hague to protest against the inauguration of Vladimir Putin in the fifth term in the Kremlin and called for his trial, reports the Reuters news agency, taken over by Agerpres.

The protesters – many of whom came from Germany with a giant float carrying a caricature of Putin, bloodied and handcuffed, in a striped prison uniform with a giant steel ball on his back to keep his neck and legs in chains – they carried Ukrainian flags and placards that read “Putin in The Hague”.

“We need to sensitize international public opinion about Putin’s crimes, he must be held accountable,” said Dina Musina, who works for a Berlin-based non-governmental organization that supports Russian prisoners.

Located a few kilometers east of the Peace Palace, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has an arrest warrant in the name of Vladimir Putin.

In March 2023, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin and Russian Children’s Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova for war crimes related to the abduction of Ukrainian children.
