Apple has officially launched three dedicated apps for Windows users: Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Devices.

The update is part of the company’s efforts to distance itself from iTunes, which previously served as the central hub for the multiple functions of these apps, writes The Verge.

The new apps, which are now available for download, are designed to improve the experience for users of Windows 10 and later.

What features do Apple apps on Windows come with?

Apple Music allows users to listen to music, manage their existing iTunes library, access iTunes purchases, and use Apple’s music streaming service. Apple TV offers access to a wide range of movies, documentaries and series available through iTunes, including content offered through the Apple TV+ streaming service.

In addition, the Apple Devices app is designed to help users manage their Apple devices by enabling content updates, backups, restores, and syncs between iPhones, iPads, and PCs.

The compatibility of these applications is guaranteed for Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems on the x86 architecture. For those who do not yet have these versions, iTunes remains available, providing access to audiobooks and podcasts. Also, for proper operation, Apple recommends downloading all three applications, as partial use may result in requests to complete the set.

Apple stresses the need to keep the iTunes app for now, as both Apple Music and Apple TV will access content stored in the iTunes library.
