Simona Halep (32 years old) will participate in the WTA 1000 category tournament in Madrid.

The important competition from the Spanish capital will be played between April 23 and May 5, live on Digi Sport, and Simona Halep will be at the start, thanks to a wild-card.

Simona Halep will play at WTA Madrid

Simona Halep announced on social networks that she will participate in Madrid and thanked the organizers for the wild card.

“Thank you very much, Madrid Open, for this wild card. The Madrid tournament has always been special for me.

I have happy memories from there and I am grateful to be able to create new ones. See you soon“, Simona Halep wrote on Instagram.

Simona Halep returned to the circuit in Miami

The return of Simona Halep to the WTA circuit, after the break caused by the suspension for doping, took place in Miami, another WTA 1000 category tournament, where the Romanian was defeated in the first round by Paula Badosa.

It is not known for sure at this moment if Simona Halep will participate in another tournament until the one in Madrid. The athlete was supposed to play in the Billie Jean King Cup play-off with Ukraine, from April 12-13, but declared forfeit due to medical problems.

There is a possibility to receive one wild-card for a tournament in Rouenbut it is not certain precisely because of Simona Halep’s injury.
