The Vaslui court excluded several pieces of evidence from the file of the National Anticorruption Directorate in which Dumitru Buzatu is targeted, including recordings of some conversations between the former president of the Vaslui County Council and his informants, according to the minutes on the court portal. The Tribunal’s decision is not final and can be contested by the DNA.

Among the excluded evidence is not, however, the recording with the flagrant done to Buzatu.

Prosecutors are also facing a choice between continuing to prosecute the former baron or having the case returned for reinstatement.

On April 17, the Iași Court of Appeal decided to place former PSD leader Dumitru Buzatu under house arrest, accused of bribery, in custody at the Vaslui Penitentiary since September 2023.

Buzatu was caught red-handed by anti-corruption prosecutors in September 2023 when he was receiving 1.25 million lei. DNA claimed that it received the money as a bribe to favor a company to obtain a contract. The money was found by investigators in the trunk of his car, after the former president of the Vaslui County Council allegedly received it in a restaurant.

The prosecutors of the National Anticorruption Directorate ordered the prosecution of the former president of the County Council, Vaslui Dumitru Buzatu. The file was submitted for trial to the Vaslui Court, with a proposal to maintain the preventive and protective measures ordered in the case.
