Scientists have created an astronomical device that can analyze the blue-green light emitted by stars, which could help discover new Earth-like planets, Sky News reports.
Researchers say the device could help them find a planet similar to our own that orbits a Sun-like star.
The new system offers the chance to discover even more space secrets.
The discovery was made by physicists from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and Cambridge University.
“It will allow us to study smaller planets on longer orbits, with the aim of discovering the first Earth-like planet orbiting a Sun-like star,” said Dr Samantha Thompson of Cambridge.
The technology is being developed for the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), which is being built in Chile’s Atacama Desert.
