The Dunărea Brăila women’s handball team qualified on Sunday, at home, for the Final Four Tournament of the European League, after defeating the Croatian team HC Podvraka, score 26-25 (10-12), and in the return leg of the quarter-finals. Dunărea Brăila joins Gloria Bistriţa in the semifinals of the competition.
The main scorers of the game were Jezic 8 goals, da Rocha 5, for Dunărea Brăila, respectively Simara 5, for Podravka.
In the round, the team from Braile prevailed with a score of 32-26, and the double success thus brings them qualification for the F4 Tournament.
The team from Braile qualified in the groups after playing two preliminary rounds, eliminating the teams Valur (30-29, 30-14) and Borussia Dortmund (25-24, 27-22). Then, he finished as the leader of group B, following the results: 27-21 and 24-19 with Chambray Touraine Handball, 28-32 and 33-23 with Thuringer HC, 30-29 and 34-26 with Lokomotiva Zagreb.
Gloria Bistrita also qualified for the F4 Tournament on Saturday, after defeating the Mosonmagyarovari KC team, 27-25, and in the round it was 32-30. The other qualified teams are Storhamar (39-35 and 33-26 with Thuringer HC) and Neptunes Nantes (31-27 and 39-30 with Sola HK).
The Final Four tournament will take place on May 11-12 in Graz.
The holder of the trophy is Ikast Handbold, which played in the Champions League this season.
