A gendarmerie crew and a police patrol intervened at the Galati County Electoral Office (BEJ) after a scandal broke out there. A citizen who presented himself as a journalist, being also an independent candidate in the local elections, was taken to the Police headquarters and fined for causing a scandal.

According to official information, on May 3, around 4:30 p.m., a member of the Galati County Electoral Office caught a man filming with a mobile phone in the BEJ premises. The member of the office asked the gendarme who ensures public order measures at the BEJ headquarters to intervene, and upon the request of the gendarme to stop the filming, the person in question refused and called the single emergency number 112, noticing that a gendarme wanted to search him.

A gendarmerie crew and a police patrol were sent to the scene. The person in question introduced himself as a journalist with a national press trust and had come to the scene to clarify some issues related to his candidacy as an independent in the local elections.

The man was taken to the police headquarters, where the gendarmes fined him 500 lei for causing a scandal, and the police fined him with a warning for calling 112 without justification.

And the election campaign hasn’t even started yet…
