Mayor sent to court for helping his mistress in a job competition

The mayor of Botoşani, Cosmin Andrei, was sent to court by the National Anticorruption Directorate in a case in which he is accused of favoring his ex-mistress in a job competition.

The mayor will be tried for committing the crime of using, in any way, directly or indirectly, information that is not intended for publicity or allowing unauthorized persons access to this information, in order to obtain money, goods or other benefits for himself or for another inappropriate.

Cosmin Andrei is suspected that, on August 25, 2021, he would have handed over the list of subjects proposed by the commission members to a candidate for the position of “consultant class I, higher professional degree” put out for competition by the institution he led. As a result of these steps, on August 26, 2021, the woman would have passed the competition and would have fraudulently occupied the respective position.

The person who was the beneficiary of these favors is the former mistress of the mayor of Botoșani. The fact was also confirmed by the ex-husband of the woman, who played an important role in the investigation carried out by the prosecutors of DNA Suceava.

Cosmin Andrei is a PSD candidate for a new mandate as mayor of Botoșani. If he wins the election and is convicted, he will lose his position.
