The team prepared by Dragoș Militaru from Gorje seemed doomed to relegation when the play-out began. Now, Unirea Dej is already hoping to be saved from relegation after a series of positive results with the coach with whom they promoted to league 2.

Coach Dragoș Militaru says that he believed from the beginning that he could lead the team with chances of saving until the end of the season. Although some did not give the Union a chance, and probably the players did not really believe in saving, now, at the end of the season, there are still some chances of saving.

“I came at a very difficult time for the life of the club, in November. It’s never been this hard. But I’m young, I like challenges, that’s why I accepted and said I’m going to the end. I thought we could hope until the last game, but I don’t know if they did. When you see a difference of 12 points in the standings, they probably thought to themselves: “What is this madman telling us that we still have chances, when everyone says that it’s a tie, that’s it.” It was a trial for me too, now let’s see if we can succeed. We have reached the last stage, if we do our job professionally and Ceahlăul as well, it means that it was meant to be and the happiness is even greater. I managed a lot in what situation it was. Everyone saw us already relegated when we started the play-out”, said Militaru after the last match against Ceahlăul.

One stage before the end of the season, Unirea Dej is in 6th place in Group A of the League 2 play-out, penultimate, directly relegable, with 24 points, and CSC Dumbrăvița, in 5th place, savior, has 26 of points. With equal points after the last round, the Banatians have the advantage of the first tie-breaker criterion, the higher number of points at the end of the regular season, and remain in League 2.

Unirea Dej has already announced that it is leaving free entry to the last match of this season, possibly the last in League 2, on Saturday, May 11, from 11:00 a.m., at home with CSM Alexandria.
