Several foreigners who came to Romania to work were expelled by the authorities after they were caught trying to leave the country illegally to reach other European countries, they were banned from returning to the European Union for five years , according to Agerpres.ro

According to a press release sent on Tuesday by the General Inspectorate for Immigration, agents from the Arad Accommodation Center for Foreigners Taken into Public Custody escorted 16 foreigners out of the country, namely ten from Bangladesh, four from Sri Lanka and one from India and Pakistan. They were taken to Cluj-Napoca International Airport, where they were boarded on commercial flights to their countries of origin.

“The checks carried out by the immigration police established that the persons in question legally entered Romania in the period 2019 – 2024, for the purpose of employment, and in March – April of this year they were detected in an attempt to fraudulently cross the state border . Immediately after the detection, the immigration police issued return decisions on their behalf under escort and they were placed in the public custody center, until they are removed from the territory of our country”, the statement reads.

In all cases, upon exiting the country, the ban on entering the territory of the European Union, the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation was instituted in the name of the foreigners, for a period of five years.
