Ten local police officers from Sibiu go to the rally in Bucharest. “We are not protesting for salaries, but to respect the law”

--

Ten local policemen from Sibiu are joining local agents from all over the country and will participate in the rally organized in Piața Victoriei in the capital on Wednesday.

Hundreds of local policemen from all over the country will participate, on May 8, in a rally in the capital. 10 local police officers from Sibiu will also take part in the protest.

The union leader says they want the law to be respected and to be paid for the weekends they worked. “We are not protesting for salaries, but to respect the law. We want to have one local police officer per 1,000 inhabitants, because criminal activity is increasing. We want Saturdays and Sundays paid. During the holidays, we were at work, not with the family at home. When new duties are given to local police officers, the legislation is changed within a month, but when it comes to rights, they are not respected. For 13 years we have been going from one ministry to another, and let’s not talk about the status of the local policeman, who has been on the work committee at the ministry since 2019. On Wednesday morning, from 10 o’clock, we will be present at the rally in Piața Victoriei”, said Sorin Poroșanu, the leader of the Sibiu Local Police and Contractual Staff Union.

Depending on what will happen after the rally in Bucharest on Wednesday, the policemen affiliated to the National Federation of the United Trade Unions of the Romanian Local Police they will decide whether to continue the protests.
