CS Unirea Alba Iulia is organizing, today, an anniversary gala, on the 50th anniversary of its foundation, during which former athletes and coaches are awarded, who have honored the club through the results achieved, as well as active athletes and coaches. Also awarded are former club directors, collaborators and other people who have contributed to the achievement of sports performance and sport in general. The gala is organized by the director Corneliu Mureșan together with the team of the sports club.

Unirea Alba Iulia Sports Club is a sports structure under public law, with legal personality, established in 1974 as a public institution, having as its main activity the achievement of sports performances: selection, preparation, participation in domestic and international competitions, respectively winning medals on national and international plan.

CS Unirea Alba Iulia is subordinate to the National Sports Agency.

Over the years, the certified athletes have achieved the highest sports performances, both nationally and internationally, among the sports clubs in our county. Over time, athletes have categorically prevailed at national competitions and achieved very good results at European and world competitions, having representatives at the most prestigious competition – the Olympic Games. Thus, through the results obtained, CS Unirea Alba Iulia athletes became ambassadors of Alba County.

CS Unirea Alba Iulia currently has 9 active sports branches: athletics, powerlifting, weightlifting, orienteering, boxing, judo, bodybuilding, table tennis and taekwondo.

Athletes win many medals every year. In 2023, for example, they managed to win at national and international competitions a number of 183 medals, of which 64 gold, 79 silver and 40 bronze medals. These exceptional results demonstrate their talent, determination and dedication, but also the professionalism of the coaches who trained them.

There were even better years, in 2022, athletes won 239 medals at national and international competitions, of which 110 were gold, 80 were silver, 49 were bronze. Starting from 2017, CS Unirea Alba Iulia obtained better and better results.

CS Unirea Alba Iulia aims to select as many young people as possible who opt for performance sport, but also to raise awareness of the important role of sport and performance sport through its social, educational, cultural, economic functions, but also to raise awareness of the development on a physical, mental and motor level.
