Alcohol behind the wheel and without a license on the roads of Hunedoara county

On May 4, 2024, at around 09:00, a 72-year-old man from the municipality of Hunedoara was spotted in traffic by traffic policemen from the Hunedoara Municipality Police, while he was driving a car on Republicii boulevard in the municipality Hunedoara, which after being tested by the police with the breathalyzer, it indicated a value of 0.53 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air.

On May 4, 2024, around 21:22, a 65-year-old man from the city of Călan, while driving a motorcycle on DC 51A from the direction of Călan towards the old town of Călan, lost control of the motorcycle, hitting an electric traffic light and fell on the roadway resulting in injury to the rider of the motorcycle.

The man was tested by the traffic police with the breathalyzer, resulting in a value of 1.36 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air.

The victim was picked up and transported to the hospital by a medical crew, in order to provide medical care.

On May 6, 2024, around 03:46, a 19-year-old man, from the municipality of Lupeni, was spotted in traffic by traffic policemen from the Vulcan Municipality Police, while driving a car on Romană street in the municipality Vulcan, which after being tested by the police with the breathalyzer, it showed a value of 0.66 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air.

On May 6, 2024, at around 5:35 p.m., policemen from the Deva Municipality Police spotted a 31-year-old man from Deva municipality in traffic, on DC 124 in Deva municipality, Hunedoara county, while he was driving a unregistered motorcycle in circulation and without holding a driving license for any vehicle category.

For all the cases presented, the police have drawn up criminal investigation files.

Preventive recommendations for safe road traffic:

In order to avoid getting involved in road accidents, the police recommend that traffic participants strictly follow the traffic rules, constantly adapt their speed to the road conditions and inform themselves about the weather conditions and the road sections they will travel. Drive with caution, increase the safety distance when walking, constantly adapt your speed to the weather and traffic conditions and do not engage in risky maneuvers.

In conditions of congested traffic, unfavorable weather conditions may cause temporary road blocks to appear. Keep calm, don’t forget road courtesy and don’t block intersections! Do not engage in overtaking vehicles without good visibility and perform each maneuver in traffic only after thorough insurance.

Do not drink alcohol or drive if you feel tired! Do not use your mobile phone while driving and use the systems to communicate hands-free.

Pedestrians are asked to take all precautions to ensure that they are seen in traffic by drivers. At the same time, we advise them to drive only on the sidewalks, to cross the street in the permitted places, at the green color of the electric traffic light and only after they are sure that their intention to cross has been noticed by the drivers!
