Unirea Slobozia secured the 1st place in League 2 after the success with Corvinul Hunedoara. The coach who succeeded in promotion to League 1 is Adrian Mihalcea.
Unirea Slobozia needed a point from the home game with Corvinul, from the 8th round of the League 2 play-off, but got them all, with the success with the score of 1-0, and secured mathematically the 1st place in the championship, a position that brings to his record the League 2 trophy, the greatest achievement in his history. It is also the most important achievement in the career of coach Adrian Mihalcea, with enough teams led until the age of 48, which he will complete this month, on May 24.
The team from Ialomi confirmed the mathematical promotion in the SuperLiga with four stages before the end of the League 2 play-off, and the 1st place was secured with two rounds before the end.
After the promotion, the people of Ialomi celebrated the promotion in the street, together with thousands of supporters.
Unirea Slobozia was one of the three teams to be ranked 1st during the regular season of League 2. It did so at the end of three stages, 9, 10 and 11. Once, after the very first stage, leader it was Concordia Chiajna, thanks to the goal difference, and, for the rest, the season was abundantly dominated by CSC Şelimbăr, which was positioned on the first step of the ranking at the end of 15 stages.
In the second part of the regular season, Unirea was always in 3rd place, below Corvinul, either in points or goal difference. He overcame the Hunedorian team in the last stage, when he beat them 3-1 in Slobozia. Then, from the first stage of the play-off, the team coached by Adrian Mihalcea climbed to first place, which they never lost.
After the eight stages, Unirea has the most wins, six, is the only one with a single draw and has the most points accumulated in the tournament, 19. It has the second attack, with 9 goals scored, after Corvinul (10), and the best defensive team, with 3 goals conceded.
