Cyberbullying, a phenomenon that destroys

“The show with which I participated this year at the National Olympiad of Actor’s Art is called “MANIFEST”. It is a social show that is based on a compilation of texts written by contemporary playwrights and that addresses problems and situations that teenagers face both at school and in everyday life. Last year, the show made with the students of the theater class was called “Frants from vitality” and the main issue debated was bullying. The show was also awarded. This year we have broadened our spectrum a bit and discussed both the bullying that unfortunately so many teenagers go through, as well as situations related to cyberbullying that has an equally strong impact on the individual, even if the insults are not directed at the face ahead”, Alexandra Gavrilov, coordinating teacher, told Ora de Sibiu.

The success has a major impact for the students as well, giving them confidence for the challenges that will follow immediately after completing high school. Some of them are preparing for the entrance exam to the theater faculties in the country, and this success makes them approach these new opportunities with confidence.

“I wanted from the bottom of my heart to register for the Olympics this year because of the emotions we experienced and the experience that was offered to us. I was surprised, pleasantly surprised by our win. We are happy and proud of ourselves. The twelfth grade ends with new winners”, says Diana Gîrlea.

“My experience at this year’s Olympics was a beautiful one. It takes you out of your comfort zone with another world, you interact with new people. I had big emotions, but with all that I didn’t let myself be influenced by those emotions and gave my best on stage. I didn’t expect to win and we left without expectations so that we wouldn’t be disappointed afterwards. It was the most wonderful experience and I can say that I completed my 12th class with flying colors. Thanks to our teacher Alexandra Gavrilov, we managed to get the first prize”, said Vanesa Tatu.

The show draws attention to the content promoted online

The show “Manifest” discusses the importance of awareness of the negative effects of irresponsible internet use and emphasizes the need for increased attention to the content promoted online. It also tackles sensitive issues like sexual harassment, fearmongering and ageism. The teacher emphasizes that the award obtained at this event confirms the dedication and talent of her students and the success of the show inspires many of these students to follow their passion for art.

“It seems to me that an awareness is necessary that the Internet has become an important part of our lives, and, just like in everyday relationships, we need to be very careful about what we write and promote online. The show also discusses issues such as sexual harassment, bullying and the unconsciousness of age. T’s 12th graders are my first generation. With them I developed and learned many things. I am glad that the fruit of our work has been crowned with such a beautiful award at the national level. The first prize at the National Actor’s Art Olympiad means a lot both to them and to me as a mentor. It was a confirmation of the fact that everything we do with joy, we also do very well. It is also a satisfaction that many students who are part of the cast of the show will follow an artistic career, going to the specialized faculties in the country”, said the teacher.

Joy, unity, teamwork, friendship, passion, art

In addition to the recognition received from both the jury and the audience, participating in the Theater Olympiad is an essential experience for young actors. This opportunity brings them closer to other theater enthusiasts, creating an environment conducive to their development in this field, which can eventually become a way of life. Success on stage can give confidence and boost the enthusiasm of those who aspire to a career in acting.

“It’s incredible how once a year the National Olympiad for the Actor’s Art manages to bring together a generation of young actors, high school students from all over the country, a generation of today that tomorrow will keep the flame and burning passion for theater, art and culture burning.
We sincerely thank our teacher Alexandra Gavrilov for all the extra hours of work that led to this wonderful result. We also thank the “Onisifor Ghibu” Theoretical High School in Sibiu for all the support and care given. We couldn’t believe it when we were announced as the winners of the first prize in the country. Only after all the adrenaline during the awards ceremony had subsided, we could really realize that all the work done, hours of rehearsals and all the enthusiasm we had during the making of the show “Manifest” paid off. We thank and congratulate the rest of the contestants who presented absolutely superb performances, it was a joy to see so many young people of our age who have already shown that they will have a bright future in the artistic field. Joy, unity, teamwork, friendship, passion, art; The National Olympiad of the Actor’s Art”, added Teodor Butănescu.
