The water level of the Sărata stream rose following a torrential rain, and a strong flood formed in Vâlcăneşti.

According to ISU Prahova, the flood took three cars, over a distance of about one kilometer. Two of the cars were abandoned, the third being functional. No casualties were recorded, states the ISU.

“A crew from the Plopeni Work Point is on the spot and remains for monitoring (the stream still has an increased level),” ISU Prahova reported, quoted by the Prahovean Observatory.

Images of the moment the cars were swept away by the flood were captured by a group of locals and published on social media.

“You stay here, you can’t leave here. Look, well, it’s a car!”, can be heard on the recording.

At the same time, in Vâlcănești, hail fell in very large quantities and destroyed people’s gardens.

Ro-Alert message for 13 localities

According to ANM, Vâlcăneşti commune, as well as 13 other localities in Prahova, was for an hour under code orange of torrential rain and hail until 8:30 p.m., including RO-Alert messages for citizens in the affected areas, according to local press.

More precisely, warning messages were issued for the localities Urlaţi, Boldeşti-Scăeni, Valea Călugărească, Bucov, Vărbilău, Gura Vitioarei, Albeşti-Paleologu, Lipăneşti, Măgurele, Vâlcăneşti, Cocorăștii Mislii, Dumbrăveşti, Bălțeşti, Plopu.

The residents of these cities and municipalities are asked to stop activities carried out in open ground or at height, to close all the windows of the house and of other categories of constructions, to avoid taking shelter or passing near trees, poles, billboards, constructions with architectural elements that can be easily dislodged, as well as buildings under construction, and in case of increased flows on certain watercourses, do not try to cross them and do not approach their banks.
