A devastating flood hit the town of Vâlcănești in Prahova county on Sunday evening, triggered by a torrential rain that caused the waters of the Sărata stream to overflow.

According to the representatives of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Prahova, the flood took three cars with it, carrying them for a distance of about one kilometer. Two of these were abandoned, while the third machine was in working order.

At the time of this news, the water level in the creek remains high and the area is under close surveillance. However, no casualties were reported as a result of the flooding.

The town of Vâlcănești was placed under a code orange warning of dangerous weather phenomena on Sunday evening, the authorities issuing RO-Alert warning messages for the residents of this town, as well as for those from Urlati, Boldești-Scăeni, Valea Călugărească, Bucov, Vărbilău, Gura Vitioarei , Albești-Paleologu, Lipănești, Măgurele, Cocorăștii Mislii, Dumbrăvești, Bălțești and Plopu.
