The liturgical program at the Coronation Cathedral in Alba Iulia, during Bright Week, May 5-11, 2024

Holy Week is the beginning of a period of celebration for Christians, which ends after 50 days with Pentecost (the Descent of the Holy Spirit).

The people believe that, with the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the gates of heaven are opened for the souls of sinners detained in hell, from Adam until the second coming of the Savior. The doors of heaven remain open until Thomas Sunday.
