The Metropolitan Cathedral in the capital was crowded with believers last night. People stayed up all night at the service and prayed for health and peace, they say.

Francesca GÎNDEA, PRO TV REPORTER: “Because the cathedral has become too large, some of those who came to the service have to listen to the liturgy outside. A few screens have been installed here where people can watch the service live.”

After the Resurrection service, in the morning, Metropolitan Vladimir went out in front of the crowd gathered in front of the cathedral and consecrated the baskets full of food arranged in front of the holy place.

“What do you have in the basket?
-Easter, eggs, salt, sugar, like all Christians. The candle is lit.
-Do you come here every year?
-Yes, we live close by and it has already become a tradition. I always come with my girlfriends.”

The people we met in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral told us that they will celebrate Easter as a family, with their loved ones.

“We go home, put a sanctified egg in the water, put pennies there and wash our faces, so that we can be beautiful all year round, then we will eat sanctified food. We get tired of sleeping and then we go to relatives and friends.”

“Is awesome. We are enjoying this beautiful celebration.”

Elena told us that every year she comes to the cathedral to consecrate the basket full of goodies.

“Easter, cozonac, red eggs, everything. We love it here, it’s beautiful, spectacular and sacred.
-How will you celebrate next?
-We go home, we have a tradition, immediately to eat sanctified food, after that we go to bed and during the day we go to our relatives.”

The Christians said to themselves – “Christ is Risen” and went home to sit down at the festive table. In a week, Orthodox Christians will celebrate Blajinilor’s Easter.
