The eDAC application, operational since the end of March

As of March 31, with Romania’s accession to the Schengen area, a new system for verifying identity documents was put into operation.

The eDAC platform is used by the institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs:

  • police
  • constabulary
  • border police
  • immigrations

It is used to confirm the identity of the individual and to verify any mentions associated with it.

The new app will be used on mobile devices such as:

This will be used in daily activities, as well as at access points in institutions and at counters open to the public.

Through the application, the document presented by the person subject to verification will be scanned. The data will be compared with those existing in the databases.

If the person is wanted or has any ban, the relevant information will be displayed immediately.

Also, within the application, the photo of the person will be presented to allow a comparison with that of the individual subject to verification.

The app improves speed and efficiency, reducing the time required to verify people.
