The wooden church, which was a historical monument, built in 1878, was completely destroyed by fire.

“From the first investigations carried out by the policemen dispatched to the scene, it emerged that the church burned down, in its entirety, without any recorded human casualties. In the case, a criminal file was drawn up, under the aspect of committing the crime of culpable destruction, and the causes and circumstances of the fire will be determined,” IPJ Alba said.

According to ISU Alba, the probable cause of the fire is a lit candle, left unattended.

A water and foam extinguishing crew from the Câmpeni Fire Department moved to the scene to extinguish the last outbreaks.

The police have opened a criminal file, under the aspect of committing the crime of culpable destruction, to establish the causes and circumstances of the incident.

The church in Ghioncani, Intregalde commune, was built in 1878.
