Revenge with fire, on the night of Resurrection. Forest threatened by flames in another locality in the county

--

The Botošan firefighters were on duty 24 hours a day for immediate intervention to citizens’ requests and optimal management of emergency situations, produced at the local level.

In the last hours, they had 36 missions, which concerned the provision of medical assistance by SMURD crews (19 situations), five other interventions (ensuring psi measures during the landing/takeoff of the SMURD helicopter and during a football match, the transport of people overweight, search for a missing person), ten missions to supervise compliance with fire prevention measures at churches and monasteries, but also to patrol near places of worship in order to prevent unwanted events, as well as extinguishing two fires.

Fire from dry vegetation

In the town of Concești, for example, the dry vegetation near the forest caught fire. Firefighters from the Darabani Work Station went to the scene with a water and foam extinguishing vehicle. They found that the fire was spreading over an area of approximately one hectare and intervened quickly to prevent the flames from spreading. Most likely, the event occurred due to the use of open fire in open spaces.

“We draw attention to the fact that the use of open fire for land sanitation, burning garbage, waste and other combustible materials can have serious consequences, both on the environment and on property or even people’s lives. In such cases, flames can quickly spread over a large area, and in windy conditions dry vegetation or household waste fires can become even more dangerous if they occur close to homes, power grids or places with explosion hazard”said Dorina Lupu, spokesperson for the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Botoșani.

Fodder warehouse on fire

In the town of Tudor Vladimirescu, Albești commune, a fodder warehouse caught fire. Firefighters from the Trușești Intervention Guard intervened to put out the flames, with a water and foam extinguishing vehicle. They found that the flames contained more than ten tons of fodder and there was a danger of spreading to the animal shelter, the house, but also to the other buildings in the household

. “The fire was extinguished within the limits found. Several animals were saved. Most likely, the fire was intentionally set. The case remained under the attention of the Police”Dorina Lupu also specified.

The ISU representatives remind that even during the Easter holidays, firefighters are on duty in Botoșani county. Their mission is to ensure an efficient and quick response in case of emergency situations and to intervene to provide qualified first aid.
