One of the most amazing places in Romania, visited annually by thousands of tourists, is Lake Sfânta Ana, located near Băile Tușnad. Here you can find the purest water in the country, close to distilled water, with only 0.0029 ml of minerals, according to specialists.

Lake Sfânta Ana, in Harghita county, is located about 50 kilometers from Miercurea Ciuc and about three hours away from Bucharest. It is the only volcanic lake in Romania, and the beauty of the place attracts tourists every year.

It was formed at the bottom of the only crater left intact in Central and Eastern Europe, after a volcanic eruption that occurred tens of thousands of years ago. Unique, mysterious, with a special charm, it has an area of ​​19 hectares and a depth of about seven meters.

The measure was implemented starting in 2018, after specialists found that, due to bathing, the quality of the water suffered. The changes had benefits regarding the purity of the water, which is now considered the purest in Romania.

Even if tourists are not allowed to bathe, legend says that those who wash their hands with the water here will be protected from danger by the Fairy of the Lake. At the same time, people visiting Saint Ana Lake can have a picnic, as special places have been set up for camping during the summer.

And boating is among the favorite activities of tourists who come here. The faithful can also visit the Saint Anne Chapel. Over time, several legends have appeared regarding this fascinating place.
