The Association of Large Commercial Networks in Romania – AMRCR – supports and joins the public information campaign “Be clean behind the wheel!”, based on the text of Law 213/2023 – informally called the Anastasia Law – published in the Official Gazette on July 7, 2023.

The campaign aims to draw the attention of those who choose to drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs or without a driver’s license and have caused road accidents resulting in the death of the victim that, starting from July 2023, the punishment provided for such situations is imprisonment with execution.

The involvement of the AMRCR will consist in the distribution of informative messages – posters/spots broadcast in the audio-video systems of the stores / small accessories for shopping, which will be found at different times in the stores located in the geographical perimeters corresponding to highly trafficked areas at certain times of the year .

The first locations targeted for the distribution of these messages, agreed with the initiators and other collaborators who support the campaign, will be in the Capital and on the Coast, in the period between Florii and the end of the Easter Holidays.

According to the latest data provided by Eurostat, Romania remains in first place in the European Union in terms of deaths from road accidents, with 86 deaths per one million inhabitants in 2022, almost double the bloc’s average.

The Association of Large Retail Networks in Romania is with the Government of Romania represented by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of the Interior in promoting this campaign which aims to discourage dangerous behavior among drivers that can cause tragedies with a major impact on families and major emotional effects among society.

“We got involved in supporting this initiative because we consider it useful, with a positive impact for the whole society and, consequently, we hope that many other entities will join the campaign”, said George Bădescu, Executive Director of AMRCR.
