Two drivers were detained by the traffic police from Bihor for 24 hours, and they are currently being investigated in a state of freedom, one because he got behind the wheel with a canceled license and was completely drunk, with a blood alcohol level of over 1.3 per thousand in the air expired, and the other for driving under the influence. In total, at the end of the week, 16 drivers faced criminal charges, and 50 were left without driving licenses.
The drugged driver, a 36-year-old man from Bragadiru, Ilfov county, was stopped by the traffic police on Saturday, at noon, on Cantemir Boulevard in Oradea.
“Following the testing of the man with the device provided, indications emerged regarding the possible presence of psychoactive substances”, according to an information sent on Monday by the Bihor Police Press Office.
As such, the man was taken to the headquarters of the Bihor County Forensic Medicine Service, for analysis, and was later detained for 24 hours, in the Detention and Preventive Arrest Center, for driving a vehicle on public roads by a person who is under the influence of psychoactive substances.
A 50-year-old man from Diosig, stopped by the traffic police, on Sunday evening, on Horea Street in Diosig, was also in Bihor Police custody on Monday, also for 24 hours.
“He was driving a car with an alcohol concentration of 1.36 mg/l of pure alcohol in exhaled air and with a canceled license,” the Bihor Police press release states, stating that, after the expiration of the 24 hours, the man will be investigated in state of freedom for driving a vehicle on public roads by a person who was under the influence of alcohol and whose driving license was cancelled.
They are not the only drivers who chose criminal cases at the end of last week.
Following the checks made on the roads in the county, the traffic police drew up 16 criminal files, sanctioned 471 drivers, detained 50 driving licenses and 44 registration certificates.
