Corvinul Hunedoara imposed himself, without emotions, in front of those from Şelimbărscore 3-1 in the seventh stage of the play-off League 2.

Florin Maxim’s team aimed, at the end of the season, to finish League 2 in 2nd place and win the Romanian Cup. From next season, Corvinul will have the right to promotion in the SuperLiga.

Even if the place in the ranking is no longer important, the Hunedorians want to end the championship in second place.

Corvinul Hunedoara is without a doubt the pleasant surprise of this edition of League 2. The newly promoted team qualified for the play-off, reached in the Romanian Cup final and has the chance to evolve in the European cups. The Hunedoers have also resolved the legal issue, so they will be able to fight next season for promotion to the Superliga.

Corvinul lost only one duel in the last five games, in all competitions. Şelimbăr did not win any match in the previous five championship stages and registered four draws and one failure.
The previous direct duel between Corvinul and Şelimbăr ended in a draw, 0-0.

On the other hand, Şelimbăr is in the same situation in the ranking and is in 3rd place, with 46 points collected so far. The team coached by Claudiu Niculescu comes after the draw with Csikszereda, score 2-2.

CSC Şelimbăr is the second team without promotion rights in the Superliga this season. The Sibians were also one of the pleasant surprises of this League 2 edition, but with the play-off, Claudiu Niculescu’s players did not rise to the level of the first part of the season.

Instead, in the play-out, Group A is still at stake, where Dumbrăvița and Unirea Dej still hope for salvation. In contrast, CSM Alexandria is already mathematically relegated. In Group B, the situation is resolved, Progresul Spartac and CS Tunari being virtually relegated.
