PSD Prahova loses in court the appeal regarding the candidacy of Iulian Dumitrescu for the position of president of CJ Prahova

PSD Prahova contested in court the decision of the County Electoral Office to accept the candidacy of the president of PNL Prahova for the presidency of the County Council (CJ Prahova). Iulian Dumitrescu is indicted for corruption and is prohibited from exercising his duties as president of CJ Prahova. On Monday, the Prahova Court rejected the appeal, the decision not being final.

The file in which the PSD Prahova contested the candidacy of Iulian Dumitrescu for another mandate as president of the Prahova County Council was registered at the Prahova Court on Saturday. On Monday, the Court rejected the appeal.

“Rejects the application with the object of “challenge to the electoral law”, formulated by the petitioner Social Democratic Party-Prahova County Organization against Decision no. 42/26.04.2024 issued by the Electoral Office of County Circumscription no. 31 Prahova, as unfounded. Admits the main intervention request formulated by the intervener Iulian Dumitrescu in opposition to the petitioner Social Democratic Party-Prahova County Organization. Maintains Decision no. 42/26.04.2024 issued by the Electoral Office of County Circumscription no. 31 Prahova. With the right to appeal within 24 hours of the ruling”, is the solution issued by the Prahova Court and published on the court portal.

According to art. 54 para. 4 of Law 115/2015, the appeal request can be submitted to the Ploiesti Court of Appeal.

Iulian Dumitrescu, indicted for corruption and banned from exercising the position of president of the Prahova County Council, submitted, last week, the signatures and the candidacy file for a second mandate as president of the County Council.

He said that he decided to run “so that the people of Prahoven have a better life” and “out of respect” for them.

County Constituency Electoral Office no. 31 Prahova admitted, on Friday, the candidacy proposal of the president of PNL Prahova, Iulian Dumitrescu, indicted for corruption and banned from exercising the position of president of the Prahova County Council, for a new mandate at the head of the CJ.

Iulian Dumitrescu fulfills “all the formal and substantive conditions” of Law 115/2015 that regulates the election of local public administration authorities and has submitted all the documents that the candidacy file must submit, BEJ Prahova said.
